How do Chemical Peels work?Chemical peeling is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin and it can be used on all areas of the body. Chemical peels induce exfoliation of the skin through the application of various chemical agents.
The chemical agent is applied to your skin where you may feel a warm and stinging sensation which could last about five to ten minutes.
After a period of time our medical expert will remove the peel and your skin may be slightly pink to red depending on the peel which has been used.
The new regenerated skin is more uniform in colour, smoother and less wrinkled giving a more youthful look overall, with a reduction in the appearance of pitted scars. It will enhance your appearance and your self confidence.
Which Chemical Peels is suitable for me?
There are different types of peels, differing in their intensities.
1. Alphahydroxy acids (AHA) are the lightest, mildest peels.
These are superficial peels - They are most commonly used, they remove the outer layer of cells, lightly exfoliating the skin to give a healthy glow. AHA peels may be used to treat fine wrinkling, sun damage, and areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation and acne.
2. Trichloroaetic acid: medium depth peel, targeting surface wrinkles and blemishes.
This penetrates further into the skin to reduce small wrinkles and acne scars, and to even out skin colour and tone.
3. Phenol: Deep peel - the strongest of the peeling agents.
It is used mainly to treat patients with coarse facial wrinkles, areas of blotchy or damaged skin caused by sun exposure, or pre-cancerous growths. A popular area for using the phenol peel is around the mouth to help eradicate deeper wrinkles.

What do I need to do before a peel?
It is a very easy program.
You may be placed on a home care program for at least 2-3 weeks prior to your first peel. This is important, as your skin must be prepared for the peel.
The home care program will consist of a selection of products, which will introduce your skin to the program. This plays an important part of the overall peel procedure, as continuous home care program is important in the success of your peels.
A factor 30 sun block is always included in the home care program.
